Meet the Founder
Hi, I’m Julia Richter.
I grew up in a small town in Germany called Sayda, where skiing was part of everyday life in my big ski family. At 13, I joined a ski and boarding school and began racing at the highest level—competing in several Junior World Championships, the U23 World Championships, and even one World Cup as part of the German National Team.
Eventually, I decided I wanted to combine academics with my passion for skiing, which brought me to the University of Utah. My college years were some of the most meaningful of my life. I won an NCAA individual title, and with my teammates, we earned three overall NCAA Championships. But even more important than the results were the friendships and team spirit I experienced. Many of the women I skied with are still some of my closest friends and outdoor adventure partners today. Those years taught me just how powerful it is when women support each other—it makes everything richer, more fun, and more fulfilling.
After graduation, I became the head coach of a ski club in Salt Lake City, working with kids of all ages as well as leading adult ski clinics. Coaching showed me how rewarding it is to create a space where people feel welcomed and supported, no matter their level.
This past summer, my husband and I moved to Jackson Hole, where I’m now coaching with the Jackson Hole Ski Club. I started She Skis Jackson because I want to bring women together here in the valley—to share the joy of skiing, the beauty of winter, and the simple magic of being outdoors with friends.
Whether you’re clipping into cross country skis for the first time or you’ve been skiing your whole life, you are welcome here. Let’s ski, connect, and thrive together.
